Description

A Gaudí tour in Barcelona offers an incredible journey through the works of one of the most renowned architects in history.

Antoni Gaudí developed a unique style, often referred to as Modernisme (Catalan Art Nouveau), which you can admire in several iconic landmarks across the city. Discover his genius at Park Güell, his masterpiece the Sagrada Família, and the houses Batlló and Milà—projects he created for Barcelona’s wealthy families at the beginning of the 20th century.

La Sagrada Família

Begin your Gaudí tour with the most famous of all his works, La Sagrada Família. This awe-inspiring basilica has been under construction for more than 140 years. Gaudí took over the project in 1883 and worked on it until his death in 1926. Since then, new generations of architects have continued the construction, following his original vision.

The Basilica amazes visitors with its elaborate facades (Nativity, Passion, and Glory), its stunning interior with towering tree-like columns, and the breathtaking views from the towers.

Park Güell

In 1900, Gaudí started building Park Güell, one of his most whimsical and colourful creations. He originally designed it as a housing development, but the idea failed as a business venture and later became a public park. Today, visitors enjoy its vibrant mosaics, nature-inspired forms, and sweeping views of Barcelona.

Highlights of the park include the famous Serpentine Bench, the Gingerbread House, and the Colonnaded Hall.

Casa Batlló

Next, stop at Casa Batlló on the elegant Passeig de Gràcia. This fantastical building, with its undulating facade and colourful ceramic tiles, reflects Gaudí’s inspiration from natural forms. Its Dragon Roof, which resembles the back of a dragon, and its imaginative interiors filled with light and organic curves, continue to fascinate architecture lovers.

Casa Milà

Continue your tour with Casa Milà, also known as La Pedrera. The building’s stone facade flows in waves, while its innovative design has made it one of Barcelona’s most iconic landmarks. Don’t miss the surreal rooftop chimneys or the impressive courtyard that reveal Gaudí’s creativity.

Gaudí drew inspiration from his passions: architecture, nature, and religion. UNESCO declared most of his works World Heritage Sites, and they remain an essential part of any visit to Barcelona.
