Overview

A Gaudí tour in Barcelona is an incredible journey through the works of one of the most renowned architects in history.

Antoni Gaudí’s unique style, often referred to as Modernisme (Catalan Art Nouveau), can be seen in several iconic landmarks across the city. Get to know his work in the city visiting the Park Güell, his masterpiece Sagrada Familia and the houses Batlló and Milà; works that he built for the wealthy families at the beginning of the 20th Century.

Start your Gaudí tour with the most famous of all his works, La Sagrada Família. This awe-inspiring basilica is still under construction and has been for over 140 years. The expiatory church was commissioned in 1883 to Gaudí, a task that he continued until his death in 1926. Since then, the work has continued following his original idea.

The Basilica highlights are the elaborate facades (Nativity, Passion, and Glory), the stunning interior with its towering columns that resemble trees, and the breathtaking views from the towers.

Park Güell, began to be built in 1900, one of Gaudí’s most whimsical and colourful creations. This public park, originally intended as a housing development, features Gaudí’s trademark use of nature-inspired shapes and vibrant mosaics.

With stunning views over the city of Barcelona, after being unsuccessful as a business was later declared a public park.

Its highlights are the famous Serpentine Bench, the Gingerbread House, and the Colonnaded Hall.

After the park, we will visit the outside of Casa Batlló, located on the elegant Passeig de Gràcia. This fantastical building is known for its undulating facade and colourful ceramic tiles, with a design inspired by natural forms.

Its highlights are the Dragon Roof, which looks like the back of a dragon, and the amazing interiors, where Gaudí’s imaginative use of space and light is on full display.

And we will not forget the Casa Milà, also known as La Pedrera, which is another masterpiece by Gaudí. The building’s undulating stone facade and innovative design make it one of Barcelona’s most iconic buildings. Which highlights are The Rooftop with surreal, sculptural chimneys and the Courtyard.

Gaudi’s work was influenced by his passions in life: architecture, nature, and religion. Most of his work was declared as World Heritage Sites and are an indispensable visit during your stay in Barcelona.
