This tour bings you to the fantastic world of Dalí visiting not only the Dalí Museum but also the Summer house in Port Lligat near Cadaques.
The present Portlligat House-museum was Salvador Dalí’s home from 1930, the place in which he normally lived and worked up till 1982, when, upon the death of his wife Gala Dalí, he took up residence at Púbol Castle. It is situated in an amazing beach with wonderful views. The original small fisherman’s hut has a labyrinthine structure which, from one point of departure through the Bear Lobby, it spreads out and winds around in a succession of zones linked by narrow corridors, slight changes of level and blind passageways. All the rooms have windows of different shapes and proportions framing the same landscape that is a constant point of reference in Dalí’s work: the Portlligat bay.
In the city of Figueres you’ll find the museum of the artist Salvador Dalí in his home town, Dalí said. “I want my museum to be a single block, a labyrinth, a great surrealist object. It will be totally theatrical museum. The people who come to see it will leave with the sensation of having had a theatrical dream”. The museum itself is the building that housed the town’s theater, where one of the first public exhibitions of young Dalí’s art was shown. It holds the largest collection of major works by Dalí in a single location. Dali is buried there in a crypt below the stage. The amazing Cupola, the rainy taxi, the Mae West exhibit, paintings and jewelry, everything is unforgetable!!
